Спасибо деду за победу!

World War II still retains a central place in Post-Soviet life – like this slogan on the back of a Ford in St. Petersburg: “Spasibo dedu za pobedu” (Thank you Grandpa for the victory). Taken with my D700 and Nikon 50mm 1.8

Shadow bike

While walking to Østerport to catch the train to the airport we passed by this bike shadow. Taken with my Nikon FE and 50 mm 1.8 Series E lens on Kodak Tri-X.

Latte art

Continuing the topic from my previous post, this was the cappuccino I got at the The Coffee Collective. Very good coffee – the latte art heart matches the taste! 😉 Taken with my Nikon FE and 50 mm 1.8 Series E lens on Kodak Tri-X.

Gourmet Coffee

While in Copenhagen for the Researching Music Censorship-Conference I had coffee at a new coffee shop – The Coffee Collective. Great coffee and dedicated to brewing a great cup – as can be seen in this picture. The baristas are very meticulous regarding the details (pre-warming the cups, filters etc.). За родину

While in Berlin we (finally) visited the capitulation museum in Karlshorst. The garden surrounding the house features some Soviet tanks and other army vehicles. This tank has “Za Rodinu” written on it. Taken with my Nikon FE and 50mm 1.8 Series E lens on Ilford HP5.

Bern @ night

While in Bern last week for the inaugural IASPM D-A-CH-Meeting I ended up in the middle of the “Tanz dich Frei”-riots while walking back to where I was staying. This was shot next to the train station at about 1 a.m. after having been hit by tear gas. Taken with my Canon S95.

St. Petersburg church

While going through my negatives last week I also came across a roll of film from St. Petersburg which I had somehow forgotten. One of the pictures on the roll was a church I used to pass by every day. Taken with my Rolleiflex 2.8 F on Ilford Delta 400.

Drinking in New York

I finally got around to uploading my pictures from New York (including pictures of former disco clubs and Tin Pan Alley): The picture above was taken with my Nikon FE and 50 mm 1.8 lens.

Reflection

While in Stuttgart for a workshop I passed by this window reflecting the April clouds. Taken with my Canon S95.

In pursuit of magic

One of the recurring graffitis during my recent visit to New York was “In pursuit of magic” – here quite fittingly at the entrance to where Tin Pan Alley was located. Taken with my D700 and Nikon 20-35 2.8.

Les Miserales or Les Misérables?

Walking through Manhattan we passed this Loews’ theater by Union Square with a nice typo (which remained for the next two weeks). Taken with my Canon S95.

Fire hydrant shoes

While walking through the streets of New York last week we passed by these old shoes next to a fire hydrant. Taken with my Canon S95.
